Charinna Barro-Quilaneta Wins 2025 Most Outstanding AVP, Elected 2026 Treasurer
Charinna Barro-Quilaneta: JCI's 2025 Most Outstanding AVP

In a remarkable display of leadership and dedication, Charinna Barro-Quilaneta of Area 5 (Mindanao) has been honored as the 2025 Most Outstanding Area Vice President (AVP) of JCI Philippines. This prestigious award was announced during the organization's Annual Presidential Ball in Legazpi City, recognizing her exceptional efforts in advancing both national and international programs.

A Groundbreaking Achievement in Leadership

Charinna's victory is historic, as she stands out as the only female among 2025's top elected national officers. Her win significantly strengthens female representation within JCI Philippines' management ranks, powerfully demonstrating that effective leadership is not defined by gender. Among five AVPs, she was distinguished by her strategic approach, grounded presence, and the deep, genuine connections she forged with communities across Mindanao.

Her leadership philosophy is built on a foundation of collaboration, responsiveness, and empowerment. She successfully translated national objectives into actionable programs for all chapters in her area. "When you empower local leaders," Charinna stated, "the ripple effect of impact is immense." For her, true leadership means not just achieving set goals but also cultivating an environment where others can flourish and lead with confidence.

An Unforgettable Journey Across Mindanao

Charinna's commitment was vividly demonstrated when she became the first AVP to visit all seven regions of Mindanao in just seven days during JCI Week. This whirlwind tour was more than a logistical feat; it was a deep immersion into the heart and soul of the island.

She shared her profound experiences, marveling at the breathtaking beaches of Tawi-Tawi and Sulu, and falling in love with the food of Zamboanga. She noted the harmony that exists despite stereotypes of unrest. Charinna felt the warmth and hospitality of Pagadian, planted trees in Isulan, participated in a blood-letting project in Cotabato, and was awed by the waterfalls of Iligan. She was embraced by the golden friendship in Cagayan de Oro (CDO), inspired by the landscapes of Bukidnon, enjoyed paradise in Siargao, and shouted 'Marajaw Karajaw' in Surigao. For her, Davao is not just a place she feels at home—it is home.

She humbly dedicated this honor to her fellow AVPs and the Regional Vice Presidents of Area 5, acknowledging their shared passion and dedication in guiding and supporting the 62 Local Organizations of Mindanao.

A Foundation of Support and a Historic Partnership

Charinna credited her home chapter, JCI Lakambini Davao—the country's largest all-female chapter during her presidency—for shaping her into the leader she is today. She drew immense strength from her fellow "Queens," who stood by her in every endeavor, embodying the powerful spirit of women empowering women.

She also expressed profound gratitude to her husband, Atty. Mac Quilaneta, who is the 2024 National President and was himself the 2021 Most Outstanding AVP. Together, they have made JCI history as the first couple to both receive this honor and to serve simultaneously as National and Local Presidents. Their partnership stands as a testament to shared purpose and mutual inspiration.

Capping off her year of exceptional service, Charinna was formally inaugurated as the 2026 National Treasurer during the Presidential Ball on October 18, 2025, at the Legazpi City Convention Center. In this new role, she is poised to steer JCI Philippines' financial strategies with the same excellence and passion that defined her tenure as AVP.

Looking forward, Charinna hopes her success will inspire more women to ascend to leadership roles. "Our place is in the boardroom, in the field, and in the highest echelons of leadership," she affirmed. "We need more women to step up and claim their seats at the table — not just for JCI, but for all organizations." As she continues to CHArge forward, Charinna Barro-Quilaneta remains a powerful force to Build Better and Rise Up for JCI Philippines and beyond.
