SunStar Cebu has been recognized with two prestigious awards at the 2025 Community Press Awards organized by the Philippine Press Institute (PPI). The publication took home the titles for Best News Website and Best in Photojournalism, highlighting its excellence in digital journalism and visual storytelling.
Recognition for Excellence
The awards were presented on Thursday, June 4, 2026, during a ceremony held at Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Manila. PPI, the national association of newspapers and online publications in the Philippines, honored outstanding community newspapers and news organizations from across the country.
Other Winners
In addition to SunStar Cebu's achievements, its sister publication SunStar Davao also received recognition, winning the award for Best in Business and Economic Reporting in the daily category. This further underscores the quality of journalism across the SunStar network.
PPI Anniversary Events
The Community Press Awards are part of the PPI's 62nd anniversary celebrations, which run from June 4 to 6, 2026. The event brings together journalists and media professionals to celebrate the contributions of community press to Philippine democracy and information dissemination.
