Gutter-deep floods submerged parts of Manila on Saturday afternoon, July 4, 2026, after a sudden 30-minute downpour. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians were forced to wade through floodwaters in several sections of the capital.
Affected Areas
Flooding was recorded along portions of Taft Avenue, UN Avenue, and T.M. Kalaw. Intermittent rains affected other parts of the city, while the southwest monsoon (habagat) brought shifting weather conditions to other areas of Luzon.
Weather Outlook
According to the state weather bureau, Super Typhoon Bavi, currently outside the country, is expected to intensify the habagat in the coming days. The public is advised to take precautions, especially in flood-prone areas, and to monitor official weather updates amid the possibility of continued rainfall.
