A 33-year-old tricycle driver died after his vehicle collided with an oncoming Isuzu Forward truck on the national highway in Barangay Bagasawe, Tuburan, northern Cebu. The accident occurred at around 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Victim identified
The victim, who did not survive despite being rushed to the hospital, was identified as Bryan Jane Gabuya, a resident of Barangay 6 in the same town.
Investigation details
According to the investigation by the Tuburan Municipal Police Station, the victim was driving his tricycle from Barangay 6 heading to Barangay Bagasawe. Witnesses reported that the tricycle was speeding and swerving on the road. It then crossed into the opposite lane, directly colliding with the oncoming truck.
The truck was driven by Junry Pontiras Teliron, 43, a resident of Mauswagon, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte. Due to the force of the impact, the victim was thrown from his vehicle.
