The municipality of Badian officially launched the new initiative of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) called Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) through a municipal orientation held on May 25, 2026.
Orientation and Commitment
The event was attended by local government officials, 29 barangay captains from Badian, and representatives from the DSWD Regional Program Management Office. As a symbol of unity and collective effort for the successful implementation of the project, participants signed a Commitment Tree.
Badian Mayor Jerome Christian V. Librando expressed gratitude to DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS after the municipality was selected as one of the first batch to benefit from the PCRP. He also expressed his confidence that the program will be effectively implemented in all barangays of the town.
Guidelines and Objectives
During the orientation, Community Development Officer IV Joelito Yana explained the guidelines and implementation processes of the PCRP. He also introduced the project's goals and strategies, which focus on strengthening community resilience against disasters and other risks.
Program Scope and Projects
According to the DSWD, 42 municipalities in Central Visayas are included in the program, which will be implemented from 2025 to 2030. Possible projects include the construction of robust evacuation centers, health facilities, water systems, and other infrastructure for disaster risk reduction.
Through the PCRP, it is expected that the capacity of communities to plan and implement projects will be further strengthened, providing sustainable development and a safer future for the residents of Badian.
