Recognition at ASEAN Energy Awards 2025 in Kuala Lumpur

At the ASEAN Energy Awards 2025 held in Kuala Lumpur, Globe Telecom was honored for its unwavering commitment to operational excellence and climate action. The company not only reduced carbon emissions but also earned regional acclaim for its pioneering energy efficiency initiatives. According to a press release from the Philippine Department of Energy, Globe Telecom, Inc. was named the winner in the Energy Efficient Building – Special Submissions (Cutting-Edge Technology) category. The department highlighted that Globe was recognized for deploying advanced solutions and system enhancements that significantly improved energy performance across its operations.

Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin extended congratulations to the Philippine awardees, emphasizing the critical need to translate these best practices into scalable solutions that can be replicated across various industries and communities. This accolade validates Globe's strategic approach to sustainability, positioning it as a world-class example in the ASEAN region.

Innovative Chiller Optimization Project at Valero Telepark

The award-winning project centers on Globe's innovative Chiller Optimization (EDD-RT) initiative at the Valero Telepark facility. This project utilizes External Digital Demand-Response Technology to intelligently adjust the facility's cooling system, resulting in substantial energy savings while maintaining essential cooling levels. By leveraging cutting-edge AI, Globe has demonstrated how technology can drive efficiency without compromising operational integrity.

Yoly Crisanto, Globe's Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, remarked that the journey to Net Zero involves redefining how the company operates and invests for the future. She noted that winning the ASEAN Energy Award affirms Globe's integration of sustainability, from large-scale clean energy adoption to state-of-the-art efficiency projects. Crisanto emphasized that progress for customers must align with progress for the planet, reinforcing the company's dual focus on innovation and environmental responsibility.

Decarbonization Strategy and Renewable Energy Initiatives

Globe's decarbonization strategy is built on a twin approach that combines energy-saving innovations with a significant shift to renewable energy sources. As of November 2025, the company has made remarkable strides in this area by powering thirty-seven large facilities, including data centers and offices, through Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreements. These agreements are facilitated under the Philippine government-initiated Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) and Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), showcasing Globe's alignment with national energy policies.

Furthermore, Globe is actively participating in the Energy Regulatory Commission-initiated Retail Aggregation Program, which aims to transition more than 3,000 cell sites to source renewable energy by 2028. This initiative not only enhances operational efficiencies but also strengthens the reliability of Globe's network, reducing exposure to fuel shortages and price fluctuations.

Progress Toward Net Zero Goals

The combination of energy-saving projects and the transition to renewable energy has yielded substantial benefits for Globe Telecom. These efforts are instrumental in advancing the company's goal of achieving a 42 percent reduction in emissions by 2030 and ultimately reaching Net Zero. By prioritizing sustainability, Globe is not only contributing to environmental preservation but also ensuring long-term business resilience and competitiveness in the telecommunications sector.

This award serves as a testament to Globe Telecom's leadership in blending technological innovation with ecological mindfulness, inspiring other companies in the Philippines and beyond to adopt similar practices for a greener future.
