21 Dead in New Delhi Hotel Fire, Including 12 Foreigners

At least 21 people, including 12 foreigners, died in a major fire at a hotel in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, on Wednesday. Authorities called it one of the worst fire incidents in the Indian capital since 2022.

Fire Broke Out in Ground-Floor Restaurant

The fire started before 9:00 a.m. in the four-story building. Investigators suspect it originated from a restaurant on the ground floor. Due to the rapid spread of flames, several people were forced to jump from windows to escape.

Residents Helped with Makeshift Safety Nets

Local residents quickly cooperated by placing mattresses on the road to cushion the fall of jumping victims. A witness reported that a child jumped from the third floor and was safely caught by the mattresses.
