Angeles City Shifts to Retrieval After Building Collapse

Authorities have officially terminated search and rescue operations at the collapsed nine-story building in Angeles City, Pampanga, after no signs of life were detected under the debris.

Shift to Retrieval and Clearing

Jose "Jay" Pelayo IV, head of the Angeles City Government's public information office, announced that operations transitioned to retrieval and clearing as of 8:27 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026. The decision followed a final assessment using specialized equipment.

"This decision was made following the final assessment. Our personnel from the Pasig City local government unit have equipment called a life locator," Pelayo said in a radio interview. "It has a radar system, and during the final testing conducted last night, it consistently indicated that there were no more signs of life in the affected area."
