Davao Sends 16 Trucks of Relief Goods to Cebu Typhoon Victims
Davao Deploys Relief to Cebu After Typhoon Tino

In a remarkable display of inter-regional solidarity, Davao City has mobilized significant relief resources for Cebu Province following the devastating impact of Typhoon Tino. The assistance underscores the enduring spirit of bayanihan that characterizes Filipino communities during times of crisis.

Major Relief Convoy Departs for Cebu

Early Wednesday morning on November 12, 2025, a substantial humanitarian mission commenced as approximately 16 trucks loaded with emergency supplies departed from Davao City Hall Drive. The convoy carried vital resources destined for families affected by Typhoon Tino's destructive path through Cebu Province.

The relief goods included 4,000 family food packs, 2,000 bottles of water, essential medicines, and other critical supplies urgently needed by communities grappling with the typhoon's aftermath. The comprehensive assistance package reflects Davao City's systematic approach to disaster response.

Financial Aid and Official Gratitude

Beyond the immediate physical supplies, Davao City is providing substantial financial support. Alfredo Baloran, chief of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), will personally deliver ₱3.9 million in financial assistance to the Cebu provincial government and affected local government units.

The financial allocation breaks down as follows: ₱1 million for the Cebu provincial government, ₱500,000 for Bogo City, and ₱300,000 each for the municipalities of Medellin, Daanbantayan, Tabogon, Madridejos, Sogod, Tabuelan, San Remigio, and Borbon. These areas had been placed under a state of calamity following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck on September 30, 2025.

Continuing Tradition of Support

Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro expressed profound appreciation for Davao's consistent support. In a Facebook post dated Thursday, November 13, 2025, she wrote: "Thank u Davao & Duterte family for extending help to Cebu, as always." Her message highlights the ongoing relationship between the two regions during emergency situations.

This represents the second major assistance package from Davao to Cebu in recent months. On October 2, 2025, following the September earthquake, Davao City sent 5,000 food packs, non-food items, and 57 personnel including medical staff, social workers, and disaster responders to provide comprehensive support.

The funding for these relief efforts comes from the 30-percent Quick Response Fund (QRF) portion of Davao City's five-percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund. The city maintains approximately ₱200 million in reserve within its QRF for local emergencies, demonstrating prudent financial planning for disaster management.

Public response to the assistance has been overwhelmingly positive, with netizens praising Davao City's consistent readiness to help other regions during natural disasters. The ongoing support between Visayan communities exemplifies the cultural value of mutual aid that remains strong throughout the Philippines.
