The state weather bureau has warned that a series of heavy rains will threaten several provinces in Northwestern Luzon until Sunday, June 7. The rains are being driven by the strengthening Southwest Monsoon and the presence of Typhoon Ester.
According to the weather bureau's forecast, the affected areas and expected rainfall amounts are as follows:
June 5 to June 6
- 100-200 mm: La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales
- 50-100 mm: Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Benguet, and Bataan
June 6 to June 7
- 50-100 mm: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales
The weather bureau has also reminded local disaster risk reduction and management offices in the mentioned areas to monitor low-lying and mountainous regions due to the possibility of rising river levels and a series of landslides. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
