The Lapu-Lapu City Government has placed its disaster response teams on heightened alert and is prepared to provide immediate assistance following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani, Mindanao.
Mayor Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” Chan stated that the city is coordinating with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 7, and other national agencies to monitor the situation and assess the needs of affected communities.
“The Lapu-Lapu City Government remains on heightened alert and ready to extend assistance to affected communities as the situation develops,” Chan said.
As part of preparedness measures, the city has prepared five members of the Incident Management Team augmentation force for possible deployment to Southern Mindanao.
