In a powerful display of community solidarity, Move It rider-partners have spearheaded a significant volunteer relief operation at Iligan City Central School in the aftermath of Typhoon Basyang. The initiative delivered crucial assistance to numerous affected families, highlighting the riders' commitment beyond their transportation roles.
Substantial Distribution of Essential Supplies
The dedicated Move It rider community successfully distributed more than 130 cases of drinking water and essential food packs to residents impacted by the typhoon in Iligan City. This direct on-site support provided immediate relief to families grappling with the storm's aftermath.
Enhanced Support for Government Response
Beyond individual family assistance, the group significantly bolstered local government efforts by donating an additional 200 cases of water to the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO). This strategic contribution helps sustain ongoing official response operations, ensuring broader community support.
Community Leaders Emphasize Unity and Bayanihan
"We in the Move It rider community are united when it comes to helping each other to accelerate our community's recovery," stated Biljohn Omongos Pagasian, a Move It rider-partner and community leader. "Although we were also affected, we are happy to give hope to everyone through bayanihan – especially for the city we serve every day."
Corporate Commitment to Community Values
Move It General Manager Wayne Jacinto emphasized that this initiative demonstrates how rider-partners appear not merely as transport providers, but as an active community ready to assist fellow Filipinos in rebuilding their lives.
"At Move It, we believe being a rider-partner isn't just about completing trips. It's also about being an active member of the community," Jacinto explained. "We fully support the spirit of bayanihan shown by our rider-partners in Iligan. Our riders and commuters can count on Move It as the city rebuilds and recovers from the recent calamity."
Comprehensive Support Framework
Move It facilitated the volunteer-led effort by sponsoring relief supplies, including food packs and fresh water, enabling rider-partners to execute both the distribution and additional donations. The motorcycle taxi platform also extended the Move It Malasakit Package to rider-partners severely affected by Typhoon Basyang.
Through this program, eligible partners accessed support such as calamity and hospital assistance, reinforcing Move It's commitment to stand with its rider community during urgent times of need. This multi-faceted approach combines immediate disaster relief with ongoing support for those who serve the community daily.
