Landslide Buries Homes in Naga City, Cebu
A significant landslide struck Purok Kaimito 1, Barangay Uling, in the City of Naga, Cebu, on Monday, November 10, 2025, resulting in six people sustaining injuries. The incident, which occurred around 1 p.m., completely buried nine houses under the collapsing earth.
Heavy Rains Blamed for Soil Failure
City of Naga Mayor Val Chiong confirmed the cause of the disaster on the same day, attributing it directly to the persistent and heavy rainfall from a passing typhoon. The mayor explained in Cebuano that the ground became oversaturated and unstable, ultimately giving way. Immediate search and rescue operations were launched, involving personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the local city police, and firefighters.
Evacuations and Ongoing Warnings
In the aftermath of the landslide, more than 40 residents from the affected community were swiftly evacuated to designated safer areas as a precautionary measure. Mayor Chiong has since issued a continued plea for vigilance, particularly to those living in upland and hillside communities. He warned that the soil remains highly saturated and poses a continued risk for further landslides.
