The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has swiftly activated comprehensive contingency and response measures after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) issued an advisory regarding the explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

PRO-NIR Public Information Office chief Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong confirmed that Regional Director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay has directed all chiefs of police and force commanders in identified danger zones and adjacent municipalities to implement proactive measures aimed at ensuring public safety.
