Tropical Storm Jangmi, which has been monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), has officially intensified into a tropical storm category. According to the latest report from weather authorities, the storm's center was located 1,295 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao. It is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour. The storm is moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
Monitoring and Potential Impact
Although Jangmi currently has no direct effect on the Philippines, experts emphasize that its movement is being closely watched due to the possibility of it entering PAR in the coming days. If it does enter, the storm will be locally named Domeng, following the Philippine weather bureau's naming protocol.
The public is advised to stay updated on the latest weather bulletins, especially those in eastern sections of the country, as the storm's path may shift. The state weather bureau continues to monitor any changes in Jangmi's strength and trajectory.
No tropical cyclone wind signals have been raised yet, but preparations are underway in case the storm alters its course. Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are cautioned against venturing out into the eastern seaboard due to potentially rough seas.
As the storm develops, authorities remind everyone to remain vigilant and to follow official advisories from PAGASA and local disaster risk reduction offices.
