Lapu-Lapu City Harvests Milkfish in Aquaculture Project

The Lapu-Lapu City government conducted a harvest of cultured milkfish in brackish water on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Barangay Pangan-an.

Project Collaboration

The aquaculture project was carried out by the City Agriculture and Fisheries Office (CAFO) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII.

Community Involvement

Initiated on January 24, 2026, the project is managed by Danilo Inoc-Casiao, president of the Fisherfolk Association, along with 20 active fisherfolk members.

Danilo expressed his gratitude to the Lapu-Lapu City government for the initiative, which has helped ease his family's financial difficulties and cover his children's schooling and daily expenses.

Support from Local Government

The project was made possible through the support of the Lapu-Lapu City government under Mayor Cindi King-Chan, who provided 6,000 milkfish fingerlings to boost community production and promote sustainable aquaculture and food security.

Personnel from DSWD Field Office VII, along with teams from CSWDO and CAFO, also attended the event.
