Key Programs for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation
During the comprehensive meeting, officials reviewed detailed reports and strategic programs designed to fortify disaster preparedness, prevention, and mitigation efforts. Among the pivotal initiatives discussed were the Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA), advanced hazard mapping techniques, and the innovative geo-tagging of trees within the Sapangbato watershed areas.
Environmental Protection and Water Resource Preservation
The local government underscored that these projects are vital for safeguarding the environment and preserving Angeles City's essential water resources. By implementing such measures, authorities aim to create a sustainable framework that protects natural assets while bolstering community safety.
Barangay-Level Hazard Mapping and Risk Assessment
The ongoing execution of barangay-level hazard mapping and risk assessment was also presented at the event. This grassroots approach seeks to pinpoint high-risk zones and elevate community readiness against a spectrum of disasters, including flooding, typhoons, earthquakes, and landslides.
Data-Driven and Science-Based Planning
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the significance of data-driven and science-based planning to reinforce the local government's safety and environmental programs. He highlighted that beyond merely responding to disasters, it is crucial to cultivate communities capable of robust recovery and sustained preparedness.
Proactive and Inclusive Governance Under DRRM Plan
In alignment with the Angeles City DRRM Plan 2026–2028, the city government continues to advocate for proactive, inclusive, and resilience-driven governance. This strategic framework prioritizes the welfare and safety of every Angeleño, ensuring a holistic approach to disaster management and environmental stewardship.
