The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has announced that fair weather conditions are expected to prevail across the entire country on Monday, March 23, 2026. According to weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, the prevailing easterlies will contribute to warm and humid weather, particularly during the noon hours, affecting various regions.
Temperature and Heat Index Projections
Specific temperature forecasts indicate that Zamboanga and Davao could see temperatures reaching up to 34°C, while Legazpi, Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, and Cagayan de Oro may experience highs of up to 32°C. Aurelio emphasized the heat index, which measures the perceived temperature when humidity combines with actual air temperature. Davao City is projected to have the highest heat index at 39°C, with Metro Manila following at 34°C, highlighting potential discomfort and health risks for residents in these areas.
Potential Weather Hazards
PAGASA also forecasts that the easterlies may cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in some parts of the country. The agency issued a warning that severe thunderstorms could lead to dangerous conditions such as flash floods or landslides, urging the public to stay vigilant and prepared. However, no low pressure area is currently being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, providing some reassurance regarding larger storm systems.
Wind and Coastal Conditions
In addition to temperature and precipitation forecasts, PAGASA reported that light to moderate winds will prevail throughout the archipelago, accompanied by slight to moderate coastal waters. This information is crucial for maritime activities and local communities relying on sea conditions for daily operations.
Overall, while fair weather dominates the forecast, the combination of high heat indices and isolated thunderstorms necessitates caution among Filipinos, especially in urban centers like Davao City and Metro Manila where heat-related issues may arise.
