A tropical depression is steadily approaching the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to state weather authorities. As of the latest bulletin, the center of the weather disturbance was located 1,230 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao. It packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour. The system is moving west-northwest at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
No Direct Impact Yet
Although the tropical depression has not yet directly affected any part of the country, authorities are closely monitoring its movement. The weather system is expected to enter PAR within the next few days. Once inside the region, it could potentially influence weather conditions over parts of Mindanao and the Visayas.
Areas to Watch
Forecasters advise residents in eastern Mindanao and the Visayas to stay alert for possible changes in weather patterns. The depression may bring scattered rains and gusty winds, especially in coastal and mountainous areas. Local disaster risk reduction offices have been instructed to remain on standby.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience generally fair weather, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in some areas. The public is urged to monitor updates from official weather agencies for any changes in the storm's track or intensity.
