The Japan B.League has officially announced that it will stage its first-ever overseas games in the Philippines, scheduled for September 9-10 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. This landmark event will feature a highly anticipated matchup between Levanga Hokkaido and the Gunma Crane Thunders, two teams that boast standout Gilas Pilipinas players: Dwight Ramos of Hokkaido and AJ Edu of the Thunders.
Historic Event for Philippine Basketball
B.League chairman Shinji Shimada expressed his enthusiasm about bringing the league to the Philippines, a nation known for its deep passion for basketball. “We are truly delighted to host B.League’s first-ever overseas games in the Philippines, a country filled with passion for basketball,” Shimada said. He also highlighted the strong connection between the league and the Philippines, noting that the country has produced more Asia Special Quota players for the B.League than any other region.
Celebrating 70 Years of Diplomacy
The basketball event also serves as a major celebration marking the 70th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan. The games are expected to draw large crowds and further strengthen the bond between the two nations through sports.
