UAE Sends Aid to Philippines Earthquake Victims

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dispatched aid through its Aid Agency to assist victims of a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in the southern Philippines, which has claimed 47 lives and injured over 200 people.

"This urgent UAE response stems from the country's international responsibility toward communities and peoples facing natural disasters and crises. We aim to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the earthquake and help with early recovery and stability in coordination with international organisations and relevant local authorities," said Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, chairman of the UAE Aid Agency.

Al Ameri explained that the aid sent by the UAE is based on a comprehensive assessment of needs conducted by the agency in coordination with relevant Philippine authorities to determine the priorities and primary requirements of the victims.

He also stated that the UAE wants to quickly address the basic needs of the victims, such as food and medicine, in the shortest possible time, in line with the United Nations (UN) report on the actual situation in the area. Through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE expressed its solidarity and alignment with the Philippines.

The UAE also conveyed its condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of the Philippines, along with prayers for the speedy recovery of all the injured.
