The United States launched massive airstrikes across various parts of Iran. According to the US Central Command, the attack was in retaliation for ongoing attacks by Iran. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth remained undeterred even as civilian infrastructure was hit, insisting that the strikes targeted key Iranian facilities. This follows Iran's downing of a US military helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, from which the pilots survived. The US has repeatedly offered agreements to Iran, but militant groups continue to violate terms.
