Bangsamoro Medical Mission Delivers Free Healthcare to 754 Residents in Upi

In a significant healthcare outreach effort, the Office of the Chief Minister, through Project Tulong Alay sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan (TABANG), successfully conducted a comprehensive two-day medical mission in Upi, Maguindanao del Norte. The initiative, which took place from Wednesday, March 11, to Thursday, March 12, provided vital medical services to a total of 754 residents, including senior citizens, children, and adults from the local communities.

Grassroots Healthcare Delivery in Action

The medical mission was spearheaded by Sittie Majadiyah Omar, head of Health Ancillary Services, who represented Project TABANG Project Manager Brahim Lacua during the event. Omar emphasized that this activity was implemented under the Serbisyong Ayudang Medikal (SAM) sub-program, which is specifically designed to deliver basic and accessible health services to grassroots communities across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

"This is to provide free services to our countrymen in need of health care services, and also to fulfill our pledge to our Bangsamoro constituents in the grassroots and bringing the Bangsamoro closer to the people," Omar stated, highlighting the mission's dual purpose of addressing immediate healthcare needs while strengthening community ties.

Coordinated Efforts for Maximum Impact

The successful execution of the medical mission was made possible through close coordination with the municipal government of Upi. The activity was strategically held in the villages of Kaba-Kaba and Mirab, ensuring that the distribution of much-needed medicines and free medical checkups reached residents directly in their communities.

Omar explained that this approach eliminates barriers to healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable populations who might otherwise struggle to obtain medical attention. The initiative brought essential healthcare services right to the doorsteps of those who need them most, creating a more inclusive and responsive healthcare system.

Reflecting Broader Governance Commitments

This medical mission is not an isolated event but rather reflects the broader commitment of BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua under the "Mas Matatag na Bangsamoro Agenda." This agenda prioritizes strengthening public service delivery and improving community-level healthcare as fundamental components of regional development.

The initiative demonstrates how targeted healthcare interventions can translate high-level policy commitments into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens. By focusing on grassroots communities, Project TABANG ensures that healthcare improvements are felt where they matter most—in the daily lives of Bangsamoro residents.

The two-day medical mission represents a significant step forward in addressing healthcare disparities in the region while building trust between government institutions and the communities they serve. As similar initiatives continue under the SAM sub-program, more residents across BARMM can expect to benefit from accessible, quality healthcare services that prioritize their well-being and dignity.
