New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on social media that the victory parade for the New York Knicks will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026 (Philippine time) in Manhattan. The event is expected to be grand, as it marks the first time the Knicks have won a championship in 53 years.
This will also be the first victory parade experienced by New Yorkers, as no parade was held when the Knicks won their previous two NBA titles in 1970 and 1973.
"For more than 50 years, New Yorkers have waited for this moment. Through near misses, heartbreak and a hope that every year could be our year, this city never stopped believing in the Knicks. And this team fulfilled that hope with grit, resilience and heart -- just like the five boroughs itself," Mamdani stated.
The Knicks ended their championship drought by defeating the San Antonio Spurs, 94-90, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, clinching the series 4-1 on Sunday, June 14.
