OFW Repatriation from Middle East Tops 10,000

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced that the number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents repatriated from the crisis-hit Middle East has now surpassed 10,000. As of May 22, data from Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac revealed a total of 10,012 individuals brought back to the Philippines from various Gulf countries.

Breakdown of Repatriated Individuals

Of the total, 7,892 are OFWs, 1,758 are dependents, and 362 are stranded Filipinos who were safely returned. The United Arab Emirates accounted for the highest number of OFW repatriates with 4,076, followed by Kuwait with 2,827. Other countries include Bahrain (946), Qatar (938), and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (901). Completing the list are Lebanon (151), Israel (138), and Oman (35).

Repatriation Program Timeline

The Philippine government began its repatriation program for OFWs in the Middle East on March 5. The program continues to bring home Filipinos affected by regional instability.
