Two Arrested, Illegal Drugs Seized in Tawi-Tawi Op

Authorities in Tawi-Tawi arrested two individuals and seized a significant amount of illegal drugs in a law enforcement operation, the police reported on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Arrest and Seizure

The Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office (TTPPO) identified the suspects through their aliases as Imboh, 30, and PKM, 45, a street-level individual. The operation took place early Sunday, May 31, in Tubig Tanah village, Bongao, the capital town of Tawi-Tawi. Police launched the operation following reports of ongoing illegal drug activities in the area.

“Local police caught the suspects in the act of possessing and allegedly transacting illegal drugs,” the TTPPO stated in its report.

Seized from the suspects were over five grams of suspected shabu valued at P38,080, along with a Tupperware container and a coin purse.

Legal Proceedings

The suspects are currently detained as authorities prepare to file charges against them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects, alias Imboh, is implicated in a shooting incident that occurred on February 2, 2026, in Tubig-Boh village, Bongao. The TTPPO confirmed that separate criminal charges related to the shooting are being prepared for filing before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
