Two days after the building collapse in Angeles, Pampanga, families of the victims are calling for justice and accountability, while more than a dozen people remain missing and are feared dead in the tragedy.
Authorities Shift to Retrieval Operations
According to authorities, search and rescue efforts were shifted to retrieval operations on Tuesday, May 26, after two days of searching for possible survivors. At least 16 people are believed to have died in the incident.
Relatives of the victims demand that the engineer of the nine-story building and its owner be held responsible.
City Information Officer Statement
Jay Pelayo, city information officer of Angeles, said the site engineer has coordinated with authorities to provide a list of workers who were at the location when the incident occurred. However, the building owner and contractor have yet to appear to explain the situation.
