Philippines Won't Interfere in Taiwan-China Issue

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized that the Philippines will not interfere in the Taiwan issue and continues to recognize the one-China policy. In an interview, the President stated that the Philippines considers the Taiwan issue an internal matter. However, he stressed that the Philippines wants any tension or conflict around Taiwan to be resolved peacefully.

Marcos highlighted that nearly 200,000 Filipinos live and work in Taiwan, making it crucial for the government to maintain peace and stability in the region. He noted that the Philippines continues diplomatic engagement with China, including regular meetings between foreign ministers of the two countries to ensure smooth communication.

The Chief Executive added that cooperation among nations in the Indo-Pacific region is essential to prevent conflict and maintain peace in the area.
