IBP Davao Unveils Mindanao 'Run for Justice' to Support Legal Aid Initiatives
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Davao chapter has officially launched the Mindanao leg of the nationwide "Run for Justice" fun run, scheduled for Sunday, February 15, 2026. This event aims to commemorate the IBP's founding in 1973 while raising crucial funds for legal aid services.
Event Details and Announcement
During the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao on Thursday, February 5, 2026, key organizers provided comprehensive details about the upcoming run. Atty. Ferdie Taglucop, IBP Davao President, and Atty. Bianca Ceasar, Committee Chairperson, emphasized the dual purpose of the event: celebrating the IBP's legacy and promoting community welfare.
Taglucop highlighted, "This is a nationwide event to honor the IBP's founding anniversary. Beyond that, it's about fostering health, wellness, and quality family time." The run has received formal clearance from the City Government after a three-month approval process and is being organized by Kinetix Sports.
Venue and Race Categories
The fun run will take place at the Rancho Palos Verdes Sports Club in Riverfront Corporate City, Maa, with a scenic route looping through Crocodile Park. Participants are expected to assemble at 3 p.m., with the race commencing at 4 p.m.
To ensure inclusivity, the event will feature multiple race categories:
- 2K category for beginners and families
- 3K category for intermediate runners
- 5K category for more experienced participants
Atty. Ceasar noted, "We want to focus on making this a family-friendly run and bring back the fun in fun runs. We welcome participants of all ages, including children." Positioned right after Valentine's Day, the run is being promoted as a "recovery run" ideal for post-celebration activities.
Registration and Proceeds
Registration for the event is priced at ₱700, which includes a comprehensive race kit:
- Event shirt
- Race bib
- Post-race meal
- Finisher's medal
Top finishers in each category will receive special prizes, adding a competitive edge to the charitable endeavor. More importantly, all proceeds will be directed to the IBP National Center for Legal Aid, supporting pro-bono services for indigent litigants who cannot afford private legal representation.
Taglucop explained, "IBP regularly conducts legal and medical consultations through annual outreach caravans in barangays. Both public and private attorneys are mandated to provide pro bono services, and this run helps fund those initiatives."
Nationwide Scope and Additional Activities
The "Run for Justice" is not limited to Davao; it will also be held in Manila, various parts of Luzon and Visayas, and other Mindanao hubs such as Agusan del Sur, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga. This nationwide effort underscores the IBP's commitment to accessible justice across the Philippines.
Coinciding with IBP Family Day, the event venue will transform into a festive hub featuring:
- Open-air bazaar with local vendors
- Kids' activity booths for family entertainment
- Family-oriented programs and games
- Free medical and legal consultation booths
This combination of fitness, family fun, and community service makes the "Run for Justice" a multifaceted event aimed at strengthening social bonds while addressing critical legal needs.
