The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has imposed strict penalties in response to a shocking multiple vehicle collision that occurred along Taft Avenue in Manila earlier this week. The collision took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, when an out-of-control passenger bus collided with several vehicles on the busy Manila thoroughfare. According to a viral video that circulated on social media platforms, the bus struck five motorcycles, three multi-purpose vehicles, and one van during the incident. This resulted in injuries to nine individuals, highlighting the severe risks posed by irresponsible driving on public roads.
LTO's Immediate Response and Penalties
In a firm statement, Lacanilao emphasized the LTO's commitment to road safety, declaring, "We will not allow such irresponsible drivers or terribly-maintained vehicles to cause such dangers." As part of the initial measures, the bus driver has received a 90-day suspension from operating any vehicle.
