The Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas Center for Health Development has officially launched its "Ligtas Christmas" campaign to safeguard public well-being during the festive season. Announced on December 21, 2025, the initiative aims to ensure that celebrations for Christmas and the New Year are both joyful and safe, preventing health incidents and accidents.
Three Pillars of a Safe Celebration
The campaign strategy focuses on three core areas to guide the public. These are Tamang Pagkain, Ehersisyo at Disiplina (Proper Food, Exercise, and Discipline), BiyaHealthy (Healthy Travel), and the critical Iwas Paputok (Avoid Fireworks) advocacy. The integrated approach addresses the most common holiday risks, from overindulgence and road safety to the dangers of pyrotechnics.
A Message of Health as the Greatest Gift
DOH 7 Director Joshua Brillantes personally encouraged the community to place a high value on their health. He emphasized that the goal is to have zero fireworks-related injuries and to avoid excessive eating during the parties. Brillantes framed good health as the most beautiful gift for any family.
"Let us make this Christmas a celebration of health, hope, and protection," stated Director Brillantes. "Let us ensure that every child laughs with joy, every parent celebrates with peace of mind, and every community welcomes the new year with renewed strength."
Ensuring Safe Journeys and Responsible Merriment
Further elaborating on the campaign's vision, Brillantes highlighted that every journey should end safely at home. He also delivered a powerful reminder that no celebration is worth gambling with one's life or future. The call for holiday safety is a proactive measure to prevent the typical surge in emergency room cases during this period.
The DOH Central Visayas hopes that through public cooperation and awareness, the "Ligtas Christmas" campaign will result in a truly merry and incident-free holiday season for all residents in the region.
