Pampanga Provincial Government Hosts Major Women's Month Seminar for Expectant Mothers
The Provincial Government of Pampanga successfully gathered a remarkable total of 2,687 pregnant women from various districts across the province. This significant event took place at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, where participants engaged in a full day of educational lectures. The seminar was specifically designed to provide crucial information on proper newborn care, essential nutrition, and effective methods to ensure safe deliveries. This initiative was organized as a key component of the ongoing celebration of Women's Month, highlighting the province's commitment to maternal and infant health.
Early Intervention and Comprehensive Education
The primary objective of this program is to reach pregnant women at an early stage, with particular emphasis on those in their first six months of pregnancy. By providing timely education, the seminar aims to equip beneficiaries with vital knowledge about prenatal care, proper nutrition, and other critical factors that contribute to safe childbirth. This educational approach is expected to play a significant role in preventing maternal and infant deaths, addressing a crucial public health concern in the region.
District Participation and Expert Insights
The event saw substantial participation from multiple districts, with 469 women attending from the 1st District, 1,180 from the 3rd District, and 1,038 from the 4th District. During the seminar, Fourth District Board Member Dr. Kaye Naguit delivered essential information on maternal and infant health, sharing expert insights with the attendees. Beneficiary Melissa Mercado of Mabalacat City expressed her gratitude, stating, "Marami po kaming natutuhan sa lecture lalo na sa pagbubuntis at talagang nagpapasalamat po kami sa tulong na binigay ninyo sa amin." Her comments reflect the positive impact and appreciation from the participants.
Financial Assistance and Additional Support
In addition to the educational lectures, the Pampanga Capitol announced that each participant received substantial financial assistance. This included P2,000 in cash aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, complemented by an additional P1,000 from the provincial government. Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda personally led the event and oversaw the distribution of aid to the beneficiaries, demonstrating strong leadership and support for the initiative.
Comprehensive Care Packages
The support extended beyond financial assistance, with participants also receiving free vitamins and underwear from the provincial government. Furthermore, "Nanay kits" were distributed by the Nanay Partylist, providing additional resources to support the health and well-being of expectant mothers. This holistic approach ensures that women receive both educational and material support, enhancing their preparedness for childbirth and early motherhood.
