Pampanga to Host Country's First Outpatient Cancer Center in Sto. Tomas
In a significant development for Philippine healthcare, the nation's first outpatient cancer center is poised to be constructed in the town of Sto. Tomas, Pampanga. This announcement was made by Fourth District Representative Anna York Bondoc, highlighting a major step forward in providing specialized medical services to cancer patients in the region.

The new health facility will be situated at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital Ambulatory Surgical and Multispecialty Center – Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service (JASMC-BUCAS) in Barangay San Vicente. This strategic placement aims to integrate the cancer center with existing hospital infrastructure, enhancing its operational efficiency and accessibility.
Representative Bondoc emphasized that the center is designed to deliver accessible and timely medical services, not only for residents of Pampanga's fourth district but for patients throughout the entire province. She stated, "Napag-usapan po ang pagbubukas ng JBL Sto. Tomas Cancer Center bilang bahagi ng patuloy na pagsisikap na makapagbigay ng agarang lunas para sa mga pasyente," referencing her coordination with Dr. Monserrat Chichioco and Sto. Tomas Mayor John Sambo.
Advanced Equipment and Expansion Plans
To support the center's operations, significant investments in medical technology are already underway. A CT scan unit has been installed and is currently in use by patients at JASMC-BUCAS, providing essential diagnostic capabilities. Furthermore, a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) radiation machine, valued at approximately ?350 million, is expected to arrive in the latter part of 2026. This state-of-the-art equipment will enable advanced radiation therapy treatments.
In addition to these advancements, the construction of a dedicated chemotherapy center is scheduled to commence within the year. This expansion is part of a broader initiative to enhance cancer treatment services at the facility, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
