Call Center Agent Detained After Violent Dispute in Cebu Residence
A 24-year-old man, identified only as alias Josh, is now in custody at the Abellana Police Station following a violent altercation with his 23-year-old female housemate. The incident occurred last Friday, November 14, 2025, in Sitio Ipil-ipil, Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.
From Scolding to Physical Assault
According to the police investigation, the suspect, a call center agent, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The confrontation began when the 23-year-old victim advised Josh to stop drinking. This reprimand allegedly angered the suspect, leading to a heated argument between the two housemates.
The verbal clash quickly escalated into physical violence. The victim claims that Josh punched her during the altercation. However, the suspect strongly denies this accusation, offering a different version of events.
Suspect's Denial and Legal Consequences
In his defense, Josh admitted to pushing the woman but insisted he never threw a punch. He claimed he did not realize the force of his shove, which caused the victim to fall, vomit, and suffer a nosebleed.
Despite his denial, the victim proceeded to file a formal complaint against him. As a result, Josh now faces a case for violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004. He remains detained as the legal process begins.
