The Davao Strikers Football Club (FC) under-7 (U7) squad celebrated a dominant performance after ruling the inaugural Kidapawan Mynas Football Tournament in Kidapawan City. The young booters went unbeaten in five matches and did not concede a single goal en route to the championship.
Dominant Run to the Title
The Davao Strikers displayed their prowess on the pitch, capturing both the Under-6 and Under-7 titles in the tournament. The U7 squad remained unbeaten throughout, showcasing a formidable defense and potent attack. They opened their campaign with a 5-0 victory over Mynas, followed by a 10-0 thrashing of Davao Amigos. A tougher challenge against D’feeter resulted in a narrow 1-0 win, but the team regained momentum with a 5-0 rout of Polomolok and a 4-0 triumph over Brassfield to seal the championship.
Continued Success in U6 Division
The winning streak extended to the Under-6 division, where the Davao Strikers also brought home the championship trophy, sustaining the club’s strong showing with another title-winning campaign.
Coach Credits Preparation and Exposure
Coach Murphy Jake Somosot attributed the team’s success to consistent tournament exposure and rigorous preparation. “Our team started together on July 16, and we’ve been playing in every tournament possible since then,” Somosot said. “This win marks our eighth championship in the U6 and U7 categories. It’s been an amazing run of consistency, and we’re happy to see the kids enjoying the game and succeeding together.”
Individual Honors
Several players also earned individual accolades during the tournament. Ragnar Correa was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), Sage Mariscotes received the Best Striker award, and Liam Maningo was recognized as Best Defender.
