It sounds deeply troubling that the congressmen who will judge Vice President Inday Sara in the impeachment trial filed against her are also implicated in the scandal involving ghost flood control projects. Ideally, those determining whether VP Sara is guilty of the charges leveled against her should be individuals of integrity—people untainted by corruption scandals or whose professional cleanliness is beyond reproach.
Corruption Allegations Cloud Impeachment Proceedings
What is particularly alarming is that many of these lawmakers have skeletons of corruption in their closets and are on the list of those who made billions in "insertions" into their budgets. Some of them have even secured billion-peso projects from congressmen with massive insertions, similar to the billion-peso projects of a few party-list representatives. These are the types of congressmen who, just a few years after winning elections, suddenly become wealthy, purchasing expensive items, lands, businesses, hotels, and resorts, and proudly flaunt their riches on social media. Ironically, these same individuals are now accusing VP Inday Sara of having "unexplained wealth."
Good heavens, these people show no shame in their actions.
Cebu Groups Rally Support for VP Sara
It is commendable and worth emulating what groups in Cebu have done in their crusade for VP Inday Sara. Recently, they issued a call to the public to write or inform congressmen in their districts not to support the impeachment complaint against VP Sara. They even added that they would not support any congressman who signs the impeachment.
This appeal carries significant weight because records show that voters in Cebu Province reached 85% in the 2022 elections, meaning they actively participated and voted for their preferred candidate, unlike others who are loud in complaints but lacking in action.
Governor's Alleged Shift in Allegiance Raises Eyebrows
Who is this governor who, it is said, was abandoned by his former group because they no longer agreed with his actions? Reportedly, they believed he was honest and not corrupt, as he often boasted that under his administration, no corruption occurred.
However, how did it come to pass that the governor himself took the lead in approaching and negotiating with contractors and suppliers he had previously labeled as corrupt? He even warned his former subordinates not to deal with these contractors because they were "dirty." It turns out he wanted contractors and suppliers to negotiate directly with him, bypassing his subordinates so he could monopolize the kickbacks and under-the-table deals.
Who is this governor who, it is said, won the election in 2025 because he was an ally of the Dutertes, but now that he is in office, wants to seek shelter under the current administration's group? What could be the reason for seeking protection under BBM's administration when, if you think about it, he has already won and should not fear the upcoming 2028 elections?
Is it true that the reason is he wants to enter the illegal swertres (numbers game) business?
