During the ongoing hearings of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, Lacson criticized individuals attempting to disrupt or question the investigative process, emphasizing that loud statements do not contribute to securing convictions.
Systematic Abuse of Public Funds Uncovered
The committee hearings have reportedly exposed a widespread and systematic abuse of public funds, implicating high-ranking officials from both the executive and legislative branches, as well as several private contractors. According to Senator Lacson, this scandal represents a severe breach of public trust, with billions of pesos intended for critical infrastructure being misappropriated.
Legal actions are already underway, with cases filed before the Sandiganbayan and other courts, while additional investigations are being conducted by the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Justice. To date, authorities have frozen at least twenty-one billion pesos in bank accounts and assets linked to the scandal.
