PNP-CIDG Ready to Serve Warrant vs Sen. Marcoleta

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has announced its readiness to execute a warrant of arrest against Senator Rodante Marcoleta should the Sandiganbayan issue one.

Protocols for Arrest in Senate Premises

According to PNP Public Information Office Chief Colonel Allen Rae Co, authorities have established protocols for the possible arrest. If Senator Marcoleta is inside the Senate when the warrant is released, law enforcement will first coordinate with Senate leadership before implementing the arrest.

Colonel Co emphasized that the PNP respects the Senate's independence and will follow proper procedures to ensure a smooth operation.

Background of the Case

The Office of the Ombudsman previously filed a plunder case against Marcoleta before the Sandiganbayan. The case stems from his alleged failure to declare P75 million in campaign contributions in his Statement of Campaign Expenditures during the 2025 senatorial elections.

The Ombudsman's complaint accuses Marcoleta of violating campaign finance laws, which could constitute plunder under Philippine law.

Booking and Court Procedures

Once arrested, Marcoleta will be brought to Camp Crame for standard booking procedures, including fingerprinting, medical examination, and mug shots. After processing, he will be presented to the Sandiganbayan for the “Return of the Warrant.”

The Sandiganbayan has yet to set a date for the warrant's issuance, but the PNP-CIDG remains on standby to act promptly upon receipt of the order.
