A shocking act of violence unfolded inside the Quezon City Police Headquarters on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, when a policeman already under restrictive custody for a multi-million peso robbery case stabbed a fellow officer.
Breakfast Attack at Police Headquarters
According to a report from the Anti-Organized Crime Unit, the incident occurred as personnel were preparing for a scheduled preliminary investigation at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office. The victim had entered the kitchen area to have breakfast when the suspect also walked into the dining hall.
In a sudden and violent move, the suspect drew a kitchen knife. The victim, in a desperate attempt to defend himself and subdue the attacker, embraced the suspect. Despite this effort, the assailant managed to stab the victim in the back.
Victim Hospitalized, Suspect Re-Captured
The wounded officer was immediately rushed to the PNP General Hospital (PNPGH) for emergency medical attention. Hospital authorities reported that the victim is currently under observation, primarily due to significant blood loss from the stab wound.
The suspect, who was already in restrictive custody, was quickly subdued and placed back under control. He is now facing pending administrative and criminal investigation for the assault. Investigators revealed that prior to the stabbing, an officer had already noted a sudden and concerning change in the suspect's behavior.
Rooted in a Multi-Million Peso Robbery Case
This violent episode has its origins in a major corruption case. Both the victim and the suspect, along with four other police personnel, were placed under restrictive custody in December 2025.
They are all implicated in the alleged theft of P13 million worth of cash evidence. This massive sum was seized from an alleged illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogo) hub in Bagac, Bataan, back in 2024. The ongoing legal proceedings from that robbery case set the stage for Tuesday's violent confrontation.
The stabbing incident raises serious questions about security protocols and internal tensions within the police force, especially involving personnel already facing grave criminal charges.
