The Bureau of Customs (BOC) scored a massive victory in the nation's fight against narcotics, intercepting illegal drugs valued at more than ₱183.54 million at the Port of Clark throughout the year 2025.
Shabu Leads Multi-Drug Haul
According to official reports from the bureau, the dangerous stimulant shabu (methamphetamine) constituted the largest portion of the seized contraband. The confiscated shabu alone was appraised at a staggering ₱117.76 million.
The anti-smuggling operations also netted a variety of other prohibited substances. These included marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, and ketamine. The combined estimated value of these additional drugs reached ₱65.77 million.
Enhanced Systems Key to Success
Jairus S. Reyes, the District Collector for the port, credited the significant accomplishments to a multi-pronged strategy. He highlighted the role of strengthened profiling systems and stricter examination procedures implemented by his team.
Reyes also emphasized the importance of improved coordination with other government agencies, creating a tighter net against drug traffickers attempting to use the port as an entry point.
Commitment to Border Security and Public Health
In his statement, Collector Reyes assured the public that the BOC remains steadfast in its mission. The bureau is committed to protecting public health and national security by safeguarding the country's borders through continuous and rigorous operations.
He directly linked these successful seizures to the leadership of the agency. "These accomplishments are aligned with the directives of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno and support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s intensified campaign against illegal drugs," Reyes stated.
This major drug bust at the Port of Clark underscores the ongoing vigilance of Philippine authorities in combating the illegal drug trade, aiming to prevent harmful substances from reaching communities.
