Eight individuals were arrested in a series of anti-illegal gambling operations targeting the 'swertres' lottery in various parts of Cebu from May 22 to May 23, 2026.
Arrests in Sogod
In Barangay Calumboyan, Sogod town, an usher identified as alias 'Pacquito', 39, was arrested on Friday evening. During a body search, authorities recovered a wallet containing two packets of shabu worth PHP 680 and PHP 250 in proceeds.
In Barangay Lubo, Sogod, a coordinator alias 'Ramil', 52, was arrested along with his companion, an usher who is a senior citizen.
Arrests in Badian and Alawijao
On Saturday evening, a mother was arrested in Barangay Banhigan, Badian. Confiscated from her were gambling stubs and PHP 150 in proceeds. Another mother was also arrested in Barangay Alawijao.
Arrest in Samboan
In Barangay Poblacion, Samboan, alias 'Wilma', 36, an usher, was arrested. Authorities recovered PHP 20 in bets and PHP 150 in proceeds.
Arrest in Argao
In Barangay Casay, Argao, a widow was arrested. Confiscated from her were PHP 105 in proceeds and PHP 30 in bet money.
Arrests in Toledo City
In Barangay DAS, Toledo City, a mother alias 'Tisay', 40, was arrested after she was caught issuing numbers to an undercover police officer. In Barangay Poblacion, alias 'Jordan', 29, was also arrested.
