In a significant crackdown on narcotics, operatives from the Abellana Police Station 2 apprehended a suspected drug pusher during a buy-bust operation on Friday night, March 13, 2026, in Sityo San Roque, Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City. The suspect, identified only by the alias "Jay," aged 23 and a resident of the area, was caught red-handed in the sting.

Massive Drug Haul and Unusual Sales Tactics

Authorities confiscated 11 packets of suspected shabu from Jay, weighing approximately 160 grams with an estimated street value of P1,088,000. According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Franco Rudolf Oriol, spokesperson for the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Jay's illegal drug trade began prior to the Sinulog festival in January. What sets his operation apart is his refusal to accept small-scale orders from customers.

"He does not accept minor purchases, requiring transactions to start with a bulk order of five to 25 grams or more," Oriol explained. This bulk-only approach is considered rare in the local drug scene, where smaller deals are more common.

Widespread Operation and Monthly Sales

Investigations reveal that Jay's drug distribution network spanned across the entirety of Sambag 1 and extended into neighboring areas within the city. Police estimate that his monthly sales could reach up to 200 grams of shabu, indicating a substantial and organized illicit business.

In addition to the illegal drugs, law enforcement recovered P14,500 in buy-bust money and other pieces of evidence. These items have been forwarded to the PNP Cebu City Forensic Unit for detailed chemical analysis to confirm the substance and gather further forensic data.

Ongoing Anti-Drug Campaign

This successful operation is part of a broader initiative led by Police Colonel George Ylanan, chief of the CCPO, aimed at intensifying the fight against illegal drugs. The goal is to maintain peace and order in every barangay while curbing criminal activities linked to drug abuse.

Oriol emphasized that such efforts are crucial for safeguarding community safety and disrupting major drug supply chains in urban areas. The arrest of Jay marks a key victory in the ongoing campaign to eradicate narcotics from Cebu City's streets.
