PDEA-BARMM Dismantles Drug Den in Tawi-Tawi, Arrests Three Suspects
In a significant law enforcement operation, authorities have successfully dismantled a drug den in Tawi-Tawi, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of illegal drugs and a firearm. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) conducted the operation on Sunday, February 8, in Tubig Indangan, Laa Island, Simunul, Tawi-Tawi.
Details of the Anti-Drug Operation
The operation, which was a coordinated buy-bust, led to the arrest of three suspects identified by PDEA-BARMM as alias Muhammad, the alleged maintainer of the drug den, along with aliases Erning and Ammil, who were visitors at the location. During the raid, lawmen confiscated approximately 15 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P183,600. Additionally, a .45-caliber pistol, a mobile phone, Muhammad's identification card, and various illegal drug paraphernalia were seized as evidence.
Rescue and Legal Proceedings
As part of the operation, two individuals were rescued from the scene. They have been turned over to the Municipal Social Services and Development (MSSD) and local village officials for proper care and intervention. The arrested suspects are currently detained at the Bongao Municipal Police Station, where charges are being prepared against them for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The successful operation was launched by the PDEA Tawi-Tawi Provincial Office, with crucial support provided by the Marine Battalion Landing Team–4. This collaboration highlights the ongoing efforts of Philippine authorities to combat illegal drug activities in the region, particularly in remote areas like Tawi-Tawi. The dismantling of this drug den marks a step forward in curbing the spread of narcotics and ensuring community safety.
