Incident Overview
A security guard was critically injured after being stabbed multiple times by a fellow guard driven by jealousy in Purok Bayabas, Barangay Kayam, San Remigio town at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
The victim, identified as Alex, 42, sustained eight stab wounds on various parts of his body. The suspect, Mar, 35, married and also a security guard, voluntarily surrendered to the police.
Details of the Attack
According to police investigation, the victim was about to leave the house of his girlfriend, known only as Eva, when the suspect suddenly arrived. Mar was identified as Eva's former live-in partner. Without any exchange of words, the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times right outside the house.
Police Major Jan Ace Elcid Layug, chief of the San Remigio Police Station, confirmed that jealousy was the motive behind the stabbing.
Relationship Background
Police reports indicate that Eva and Mar have a child together and had only been separated for three months from their live-in arrangement. Eva disclosed that she and the victim had been in a relationship for only three days, but she did not expect it to result in a bloody tragedy due to the extreme jealousy of her ex-partner.
Legal Action
The police are preparing charges of frustrated murder against the suspect. The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
