More Rebels Surrender in Region 2, Army Official Says

Lt. Col. Ericson Bulosan, Commanding Officer of the 95th Infantry (Salaknib) Battalion, announced that the number of rebels surrendering to the government in Region 2 is increasing. According to Bulosan, those surrendering belong to armed groups left in various barangays in Isabela. Upon surrender, they also turned over their weapons, including a grant, M16 rifle, carbine, improvised explosive device, and ammunition.

Support from NPA Members

Bulosan stated that they are receiving strong support from prominent personalities or groups, including members of the New People's Army (NPA). He added that the entire Region 2, or Cagayan Valley, has been declared insurgency-free.

Reasons for Surrender

Meanwhile, it was learned that the main reasons for the rebels' complete return to the government are the failure to fulfill promises made to them and their desire to live peacefully with their families.
