In a significant blow to narcotics trafficking, police authorities have apprehended two businessmen identified as high-value individuals and seized approximately P20.7 million worth of illegal drugs during a targeted law enforcement operation in Lanao del Sur. The successful raid, which took place on March 9, 2026, underscores ongoing efforts to combat drug networks in the region.

Details of the Arrest and Seizure

The operation unfolded in Maladig village, Picong, Lanao del Sur, where lawmen conducted a buy-bust around 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The arrested suspects were identified through their aliases as Ben, a 55-year-old from General Trias, Cavite, and Abag, a 46-year-old resident of Talitay, Maguindanao del Norte. Both individuals are believed to be key players in the illicit drug trade.

Authorities confiscated a substantial haul of 3,054 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P20,767,200. In addition to the narcotics, police recovered critical evidence including buy-bust money, multiple mobile phones, identification cards, and a sports utility vehicle allegedly used by the suspects to facilitate their illegal activities.

Intelligence-Led Operation and Police Response

This anti-drug initiative was launched after weeks of meticulous intelligence monitoring on the suspects' illicit operations. Following the arrest, the detained businessmen and all confiscated evidence were transported to the Picong Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and the filing of charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
