PCG turns over unexploded ordnance to Cebu EOD unit

The Philippine Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV) formally turned over recovered unexploded ordnance (UXO) to the Cebu Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (Pecu) on July 7, 2026.

Discovery and Turnover

The turnover followed a voluntary surrender by a concerned citizen in Barangay Pooc, Talisay City, who unearthed a suspected explosive while excavating an abandoned residential property on July 4. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit-Central Visayas identified the item as an unexploded 60mm mortar round.

In addition to this, the Coast Guard turned over another 60mm mortar round, 13 M203 rifle grenades, and four live booster cartridges that had been previously recovered to ensure safe disposal.
