PDEA Conducts Successful Raid on Cebu City Drug Den, Nets Three Suspects and Shabu Worth P74,800

In a targeted operation in Cebu City, agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Special Enforcement Team, in collaboration with the Carbon Police Station, executed a raid on a drug den located in Sityo Panagdait, Barangay Ermita. The operation took place at 4:10 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026, marking a significant blow to local drug trafficking activities.

Arrests and Seizures in the Ermita Raid

According to PDEA 7 Director Joel Plaza, the primary suspect apprehended during the raid was identified as alias Jun-Jun, a 31-year-old laborer residing in the area, who is alleged to have been operating the drug den. Two additional male suspects were also arrested inside the den, caught in the act of using shabu. These individuals are known as alias Roger, a 38-year-old security guard from Pardo, and alias Ceejay, a 34-year-old waiter from Tisa.

During the operation, authorities seized 11 packets of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 11 grams in total. The confiscated drugs have an estimated average market value of P74,800. In addition to the narcotics, operatives recovered buy-bust money and various drug paraphernalia, which are crucial pieces of evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings Following the Raid

Leia Alcantara, the information officer for PDEA 7, revealed that the raid was the culmination of a month-long case buildup. The investigation was initiated after PDEA received critical information from a confidential informant, leading to the surveillance and eventual takedown of the drug den. It was disclosed that alias Jun-Jun allegedly sold around 30 grams of shabu per week, sourced from his supplier, highlighting the scale of his illicit operations.

Notably, alias Jun-Jun has a prior criminal record, having been arrested for illegal drug charges in 2014. He was previously released under probation, but this recent arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat recidivism in drug-related crimes. All seized evidence has been forwarded to the PDEA 7 Regional Office Laboratory for chemical analysis to confirm the substances involved.

The three suspects are currently detained at the PDEA 7 custodial facility, where they await further legal proceedings. This operation is part of a broader crackdown on drug dens in the region, aimed at disrupting the supply chain and reducing drug abuse in local communities.
