PNP, AFP, PCG Boost Security Coordination in Joint Meeting

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced a significant enhancement in its coordination efforts with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). This development aims to bolster the nation's security posture, as discussed during the 5th National Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (JPSCC) meeting held on March 3, 2026.

Key Meeting at Camp Crame

The pivotal gathering took place at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame, Quezon City. PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. led the discussions, joined by AFP Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Rommel Roldan and PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan. The primary focus was on improving joint security operations and fostering better information sharing among the three critical agencies.

Enhancing Interoperability and Intelligence

Nartatez emphasized that the meeting's core objective was to enhance interoperability and strengthen intelligence coordination. "This is a regular meeting of the minds to discuss ways in further improving our operational capabilities, especially in terms of intelligence-sharing and interoperability, for the protection and peace of mind of the Filipino people," he stated. The initiatives are designed to close operational gaps and ensure seamless coordination from national to local levels.

Operational Updates and New Directives

During the session, the JPSCC reviewed previous directives and received comprehensive operational updates from various joint units, including:

  • Intelligence
  • Operations
  • Logistics
  • Cyber operations
  • Civil and community relations
  • Legal and investigation
  • Education and training

Significantly, the council approved JPSCC Resolution 01-2026, which aims to sustain Stable Internal Peace and Security Areas (SIPS). Additionally, Joint Letter Directive 01-2026 was adopted, outlining unified guidelines for the SIPS program's implementation.

Strategic Communication and Future Plans

A joint strategic communication plan named Pagkakaisa was also adopted to strengthen coordinated messaging across the security sector. Nartatez highlighted that these measures will expedite decision-making and deployment, preventing criminals from exploiting inter-agency gaps. "Mas magiging seamless ang coordination, tuloy-tuloy ang information flow from national to local level. Through JPSCC, napapabilis ang decision making at deployment," he explained.

Intensified Security Measures

To further enhance security, Nartatez ordered intensified real-time intelligence coordination with the AFP and PCG. This includes expanded joint visibility patrols in urban areas and coastal communities, along with strengthened monitoring of identified security hotspots. Despite these advancements, the security sector remains vigilant. "We are confident but not complacent. Mataas ang ating preparedness level pero patuloy ang monitoring at operations," Nartatez assured.

He concluded with a unified message to the public: "Ang mensahe namin sa publiko: the security sector is united. Magkakasama ang PNP, AFP, at PCG para panatilihing ligtas ang bansa." This reinforced commitment underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain national safety through collaborative and proactive security strategies.
