PRO-3 Confiscates Over 4,000 Illegal Firearms in Central Luzon Operations

The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) has successfully seized more than 4,000 loose and illegal firearms through a series of targeted operations across Central Luzon. This significant haul underscores ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety in the region.

Media Presentation and Custody Details

The recovered firearms were publicly displayed during a media briefing held on Monday, February 23, at Camp Olivas in the City of San Fernando. The event was organized by the Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee 3 (RLECC-3) and the Joint Anti-Bank Robbery and Cybercrime Coordinating Committee 3 (JABRACCC-3).

Brigadier General Rogelio Peñones Jr., the director of PRO-3, confirmed that all confiscated weapons are now under official custody. He emphasized that these firearms, which previously posed serious threats to community security, have been thoroughly documented and accounted for to prevent any future misuse.

Additional Crackdown on Illegal Mufflers

During the same meeting, authorities also announced the destruction of more than 3,000 modified and illegal mufflers confiscated in various operations. This figure is in addition to the 5,227 illegal mufflers that were destroyed between June 19, 2025, and February 22, 2026, highlighting a sustained campaign against vehicular modifications that violate regulations.

Emphasis on Collaborative Efforts

Brigadier General Peñones praised the results as a testament to the effectiveness of a whole-of-government approach. "These achievements demonstrate what we can accomplish through strong partnerships. This is not solely the effort of the Philippine National Police (PNP). By working closely with RLECC 3, JABRACCC 3, and our allied agencies, we continue to implement concrete actions that safeguard our communities," he stated.

The coordinated operations reflect a broader strategy to address both firearm-related crimes and other illegal activities, ensuring a comprehensive approach to law enforcement in Central Luzon.
